Balangayan Camp! Walang Iwanan! Hooowaaah!

CAMPING

The last exhausting camp I attended was 9 years ago.  Well, I did some camping during high school but it was not as tiring, nor exciting. Good thing I was able to join this year's Balangayan Camp.  Good thing I was able to join this year's Balangayan Camp. It made me realize that I have to start doing some exercise and stretches because what I learned during my girl scout days were somehow getting rusty.

We arrived there at 9:00 and had an orientation with Sir Toby. He's the representative of Pilipinas Natin. He was there to guide and help our school's facilitators.

Who would feel tiredness in this kind of place? Morning walk on the 2nd day
After that we had our boodle lunch. Eating using my hands is not new to me because I always do it when I feel that using eating utensils does not match what is served on the table.
Another orientation was made by Sir Toby, where he told us what Pilipinas Natin is all about and its mission. It was made solely for the Filipino Youth. Empowerment and social engagement. The real stuff started at 2:00 pm. We had a short walk to the drill venue. The challenges were labeled as BUNDOK, PATAG and GUBAT.

First stop. BUNDOK.

For me, the first stop is second in terms of difficulty. You have to pass 8 drills to go to the next level. I forgot what those obstacles are called, so, I'll just name them.

  • Tunnel (where-I-have-to-stoop-very-low-because-my-butt's-not-small-enough-to-fit)
  • The Horizontal Rope Tunnel (was-so-easy-because-I'm-small-and-pulling-myself-was-easypeasy)
  • The Swinging Tires (was-not-able-to-swing-to-the-last-tire-because-my-arms-were-too-tired...got-some-scratches)
  • The Spider Web (was-able-to-roll-twice-because-I-was-too-excited-to-let-go-of-the-rope)
  • The Tire Tunnel (easy-peasy...tsss)

  • Hiking (easy-peasy...tssss)

Troyka flashed her sweetest smile while doing the Tunnel Tire Obstacle. Haha.
So yeah. Selfie. Roxanne took these photos, she told me that the first photo did not look like that I'm on a challenge. So, I flashed my oh-so-I'm-so-tired-I-wanna-rest-pose. Haha

The Bundok challenge was an individual battle. It's between you and your fears.

Second stop. PATAG

This was the hardest among the challenges for me, because it  made me physically weak and mentally drained. The challenges were:

  •  Drag Me
  •  Leadership Walk
  • ABC
  • The Don't Touch the Straw
  • Memory Game
  • Water Relay
  • Duck Walk
  • Mud Roll

Hello there, Agel! Haha
Lorenz dragging Jem.

PATAG challenges were designed for small groups to work together and help each other to accomplish all the tasks.

GUBAT. The Last Challenge.

This was the most fun part of the Balangayan Camp because we were able to pass the challenge while we were blindfolded. It was dark and muddy. The downhills and uphills were too steep and slippery.

The small groups were formed as one team. And we formed a one long line in order to start the trek. The trick was you have to hold the straw as a guide with your right hand and put your left on the shoulder or waist of the person in front of you.

The first person in the line will guide the whole team of the things they should do. The funny part was when every time that the team leader would shout the instructions, every one would follow him, so, everyone would duck. Imagine almost 40 people ducking at the same time? Haha.

Our "we-did-it-because-we're-great" group photo.
Morning walk with my girlaloos.

And I'm so happy that I have added a new entry in my sembreak video collection. Watch!

Are we missing something?

I got Agel's shoe! Woot! Woot!

Hello there, sembreak! After a quarter. I could finally say that time moves so fast. Who could have thought that I was able to do a lot things. Yeah.

  • I am now part of my school's official paper.
  • I was able to be a part of an event which was somehow successful. Very successful.
  • Watched Juris in a live performance.
  • I knew how to use Sony Vegas. Buhbye, Cyberlink!
  • Our thesis defense was good.
  • I had an awesome retreat with the AB Psych batch.

After #TheFeast

Happy Vacation!

If you have plans this break, please invite me. PLEASE.

SEMBREAK: Day 8 (Grades)

Grades. c/o Student Portal
After a week our final grade was released. So far, I'm contented with the outcome. All I did is to listen and did what I'm suppose to do.  Honestly, I didn't exert too much effort in order to get that not-so-awesome-but-fair-enough-grades. Indeed, fair enough. I just prayed for an average evaluation. I'm not grade conscious but my parents were. Haha.  Midterms' good. I got some additional points during Finals and some decreased by a point.

SPANISH - This was the most boring subject ever. Why? It feels like were back to elementary learning ABC and 123. Pero, I must say, its somehow 'ASTIG' if you speak fluently in Spanish. Plus, its an additional information that you can put to your FaceBook language, Spanish. Suave!  Muchos Gracias Senor Mikee! A grade of 90 is fair enough for a nonchalant student like me.

DANCING - Booyah! I don't dance but I got 93. Why? I just made a design and an invitation for the culmination of Physical Education this semester. Awesome right? Now, I'm happy to say that even though I couldn't dance I got 93. Diskarte din.

SPEECH COMMUNICATION - Its one of my favorite subjects this sem. I learned a lot from Doc A and I had some funny memories when we're practicing  our group presentation. Funneh but memorable. -And God stepped out on space...

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNATION - LOL. Again, all I did to get 90 is to make designs, to assemble a box, and to print our project for our final requirement. Yeah. I did all that stuffs, and they did not pay me. Poor me.

RETORIKA - :( So sad. My grade decreased by a point. I know why, I did not accomplish all the requirement. I did not manage to pass an assignment. Another boring subject all we did is reporting. But, I was amazed with my classmates because they were all good writers. Our Prof read some good paper and BRAVO. I wish I could write like them.

MAN, CULTURE and SOCIETY - Boring. Pero, I'm confused because he's the only Prof who hadn't asked for a course requirement. And I'm happy with that.

CHURCH - Super Thank You. Amen.

COMMUNICATION THEORIES - Oh my! I loooove this subject, but I wasn't able to do my best because of some reasons. First, I'm afraid to get "pahiya" during discussions. Second, I don't have that guts to answer in front of my classmates. Yeah. So, mababaw. Pero seryoso, I'm just answering all her questions silently. I mean, in my mind. Haha. Basta, fun, fun subject. She's a great Prof because she didn't just teach us Theories but she taught us how to be MATURE; at least.

POLITICS and GOVERNANCE - Cool! Oh my! Dapat kinuha ko na si Leonel the Trashformer for souvenir.

PHILIPPINE LITERATURE - Another interesting subject but I wasn't able to enjoy it because our Prof's always out. Sayang. I'm in to Philippine Lit pa naman.

SO FAR, SO GOOD!

Challenge: This second semester I'll try to exert effort with the intention of having grades not lower that 90. Hahaha. =)))

Me: CHALLENGE accepted!

SEMBREAK: Day 7 (Basketball)

I didn't know why I joined CAS' basketball team. Haha. I got bored and I decided to sign myself up to be one of the team members. Maybe I wanna have that hot red jersey; ROBLES-02. (Oh diba? Astig? Pandak kasali sa basketball team. Ahahahhaa.)

Another reason why I went to school and joined the team was I wanted to burn some fats. I couldn't go out early morning to have some rounds. At least, in playing basketball I could at least burn 1000 calories.

Epic! The game 'kuno' was fun. I met new friends and I discovered that Valerie Padilla would do anything in order to get the ball from the opponent's possession. Funneh. Jamie got some scratches from Valerie's ravaged attacks. LOL.  I'm not good in playing ball but I want those hot red jerseys! ROBLES-02. Hahaha.

Anyways, after some funneh games. We went to Rob to hit McDonald's. Workout useless. Sundae+Burger+Fries= Heaven.

Imma edit this post tomorrow and I'm going to add some pictures. I'll post Day 8 later. =)))

BTW, I managed to read Bob Ong's "Ang mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan". I'm not weird but I think the essence of the story is not just about the creepiness and the spine chilling activities of Mama Susan and Friends'. Its about something. And only weird person like me knows what that something really is. =)))

Note: Many people think that I'm TOMBOY because of my interests. I'm not. I just want to try guy stuffs. ASTIG kasi! I just can't imagine myself to be 'maarte'. (LOL)  Ewan ko. Basta. I want to drive DIRT BIKE!

SEMBREAK: Day 6

Nothing special happened. I watched Forrest Gump. And I got inspired.

EPIC movie! =))) Tom Hanks did a great job in portraying Forrest Gump.

The movie depicted that people shouldn't be that smart to become a HERO, a STAR, or even  a GAZILLIONAIRE.

"You have to do the best with what God gave YOU. " - Mrs. Gump

Being YOU could take you in a place where  you wanted to go.

Being YOU could make you what you desired to be.

Being YOU would be the greatest thing you can do to make those people you love happy.

And of course, being YOU could make life more easy.

"Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." -Mrs. Gump to Forrest.

Basta, the movie's super kaduper good. =)

SEMBREAK: Day 5 (Movie Marathon)

JP, Anna and I had a movie marathon at JP's crib. Marathon? We only watched one movie. LOL. Why? Anna, as usual came late. We hadn't enough time to watch another film.

We managed to finish this Thai horror movie "Ladda Land". It's a story about a family who settled in a haunted subdivision called "Ladda Land". As is. I couldn't grasp the essence of the flick. Its supposed to center its plot about the ghosts, but it seemed that the story was about family relationship. But I couldn't deny that its creepy. Thai moviemakers got some swag that made me cover my eyes the whole duration of the show.  Yeah. I'm not a fan of dreadful movies. Give me all kind of shows but don't ever ever offer me to watch "HORROR" and "KADIRI" themed films.

The fear didn't end in Ladda Land. We also watched this tv serie called "Paranormal Witness". It was a documentary about a family who settled in a house full of unseen creatures. Creepy. As usual, I covered my eyes and I saw nothing. =))

Fun. Fun. Looking forward for another movie marathon with my HS friends. If we had much money, we probably went to Enchanted Kingdom.  But, we're all broke. Movie marathon was the only thing we can do without spending too much money.

Sembreak: Day 2 & 3 (BORED)

Nothing special happened.

Why?

Its because I didn't have any money to spend. MONEY. MONEY. MONEY.

To sleep, to eat, to surf, and to sleep again. So monotonous. What to do?      Break is so boring without money.I stayed inside the house for two days. Yeah. I didn't even know what it feels like to be under the scorching heat of the sun. I'm planning to have some daily exercise. I mean, daily jogging. To burn some unwanted fats. But, I think I can't. Why? Because I don't want to wake up early. Hahaha.

I'm having a great time acting like I don't exist. Yeah. Its fun to act like you don't exist. It makes your parents crazy.

BASTA. I'm so bored.

Leason learned : "Mag-ipon ng pera bago mag sembreak. Para mas enjoy."

I want to earn money but I don't have any guts to do it. Lagot. Inuunahan ako ng takot.
